** Police seek identity of suspect involved in commercial Burglary **

[Hopewell, VA] – On December 11, 2017 at approximately 1:41am, officers responded to the Community Food Mart, located at 325 S. Mesa Drive, in reference to a burglary alarm activation and discovered the business had been burglarized. The preliminary investigation revealed that the lone offender broke out the front window to the business with a hammer, removed several rolls of coins from the register and fled the business on foot.

The offender is described as a white male, 25–35 YOA, 5’10”-6’0” tall, 180–200 pounds with a stocky build.  He was last seen wearing a dark in color jacket with a possible attached hood, blue jeans, dark colored boots and rubber coated cotton gloves. Additionally, the offender had a dark colored material covering the lower portion of his face.

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter and is requesting that any person(s) who may have witnessed the incident, were traveling in and around the area at the time of this incident or have any information to provide regarding the identity of the offender, contact Detective Roland Grimm at (804) 541-2284.
